2022 Scholarship Winner
“Although I started tutoring as a way to help my family with finances, I quickly realized that I was helping others in a more meaningful way. I fully believe that all of the children that I helped would have been successful in school without me, but it was exciting to see them grow more quickly with my help. This experience also helped me though, as it allowed me an opportunity to be a leader in my community and help my family overcome a financial obstacle.”
In February 2022, the Nancy Etz Scholarship Committee selected Jennah, a graduate student at Texas Tech University, as the second recipient of the Nancy Etz Scholarship.

2021 Scholarship Winner
“A special attribute of mine that sets me apart is my dedication to helping urban communities through advocacy, art, social work, and holistic midwifery. Once I graduate college I plan to become a doula, helping to serve and assist women with a knowledgeable and safe childbirth. Women deserve to be heard and given the highest priority of care when giving birth. Opening up urban communities to more natural ways of birth giving and educating the community on childbirth will help my community to be able to stay healthy and grow with awareness. My passions are special attributes to me as they have shaped me as a person and will help me to make a difference in my community and beyond. My special attributes also bring change, awareness and educate those around me.”
In February 2021, the Nancy Etz Scholarship Committee selected Raniya, a junior at Morgan State University, as the first recipient of the Nancy Etz Scholarship.
